Curved Back

These can be difficult, but with care and a simple trick, you'll get a good fit.

The key to curved backs is the tuckage.  Instead of her usual 4" tuckage, Judy cuts her seat and back as if they had no tuck.  When she has her pieces pinned, she chalks the inside curve and adds an inch to each piece like any other seam.

Then she makes and marks a 5" panel (4" finish) long enough to go around the inside of the seat cushion.  She may use the full width wherever she wants tuckage or she may taper it toward the front.  As with most tucks, Judy will locate the underlying frame.  This will almost always be the limit for tucks.

In this picture, you can see how she's tapered and pleated her tuckage.
